The Last Butterfly… and a Cake Sale!

When I arrived at school last Monday morning, I was concerned to see that one of our butterflies still hadn’t hatched from its chrysalis. Tuesday and Wednesday came and went and I really began to fear the worst. Then, on Thursday morning we arrived to find a beautiful butterfly and we watched with joy as it soared into the sunny sky. I hope that it is still out there somewhere, enjoying all this lovely weather.

Also on Thursday, we had great fun transforming our classroom into a cake shop to raise money for the Head Boys’ charities. The boys showed great enthusiasm and impressed us with their entrepreneurial skills! We certainly have some persuasive salesmen in RO!! Thank you SO MUCH for all your hard work with baking at home. We simply couldn’t have done it without you. Have a lovely weekend.Cake Sale 021 Cake Sale 022 Cake Sale 023 Cake Sale 024 Cake Sale 025 Cake Sale 026 Cake Sale 027 Cake Sale 028 Cake Sale 029 Cake Sale 030 Cake Sale 031 Cake Sale 032 Cake Sale 033 Cake Sale 034

Lee Valley Farm and Sports Day!

The last few days have been very exciting in RO! On Friday we visited Lee Valley Farm and on Monday it was our Sports Day. On both occasions the boys behaved brilliantly and we can see that they are ready to move on to Year 1. Here are some pictures from the farm.

Ordinal numbers….and caterpillar news!

As I write, the last two caterpillars have attached themselves to the top of their pot and are, miraculously, changing into chrysalises. Hopefully, we will have some butterflies before too long!

In class today, we have been learning about ordinal numbers ie 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc. We set up a carousel of activities, such as rolling cars down a ramp, making sticks of 20 cubes, filling a pot with 20 pom poms using tweezers and completing a peg board. The boys decided which position they had finished in and awarded themselves a rosette bearing the appropriate ordinal number. It was great fun and the boys were highly motivated to complete each task. Please see the photos below.

Tomorrow, we will be setting off for Lee Valley Farm. The weather forecast is looking good, so let’s hope we have a wonderful day!Ordinal numbers 007 Ordinal numbers 016 Ordinal numbers 015 Ordinal numbers 014 Ordinal numbers 013 Ordinal numbers 012 Ordinal numbers 011 Ordinal numbers 010 Ordinal numbers 009 Ordinal numbers 008 Ordinal numbers 006 Ordinal numbers 005

Welcome Back!

It seems hard to believe that the half term holiday is over and we are hurtling towards the end of the school year. However, the next few weeks will be action packed, so hold tight and enjoy the ride!!

This week, the boys have been thrilled by the arrival of a clear, yoghurt pot sized vessel, containing 5 tiny caterpillars. Well, they were tiny-about the same size as an eyelash. Just four days later and they are already fatter and longer-over a centimetre I think. We shall watch their growth with interest.Butterflies 2015 002 Butterflies 2015 003
