We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

We have come to the end of a wonderful first term in Reception. Where has the time gone? The boys are making tremendous progress and they definitely deserve a well earned rest with family and friends.

This week we have enjoyed many Christmas activities including Mufti day where many Christmas jumpers were featured!

You will have received some ‘Christmas Challenges’ in your book bags, directing you to the maths questions below. To reply to these questions, please comment by clicking the ‘heart’ on the left hand side of this blog post.

How many different ways can you make 10 and then 20 by counting on and using your fingers?

Using toys in your house can you line them up and find one more and one less than the amount you lined up?

Can you find these shapes in your house… square, triangle, circle, rectangle, pentagon, hexagon and octagon?

Merry Christmas!

The show must go on!

The boys have been practising for their Christmas play all week and have been superb during each practice. Today and yesterday they sat, stood, sang and danced brilliantly to you all. A very big well done to them!

On Thursday afternoon we welcomed a visit from Mr De Vos (Chistopher’s father) who talked to the boys about Christmas in Belgium. They thoroughly enjoyed listening to interesting similarities and differences between England and Belgium and also receiving a chocolate coin!

Autumn 2 W/B: 28.11.16

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! We began our week listening to the Christmas story. We cut out and sequenced the pictures to retell the story and and wrote accompanying labels and captions to retell the story.

In Maths we reached the number 20 and practised writing and adding numbers together.

In phonics the boys are thoroughly enjoying learning the new digraphs. They are definitely understanding that digraphs have two letters make one sound.

During Expressive Arts and Design the boys are working hard practising for their Christmas Play and making Christmas crafts. The boys are also having lots of fun in our Christmas role play area, which is titled ‘Father Christmas’ workshop’.

During Advent, the boys are enjoying turning over baubles on our class Advent tree. Each boy is also receiving a chocolate coin.
