This week in Literacy we looked at Traditional tale characters. We wrote speech bubbles for our characters and included familiar phrases such as “Run run as fast as you can, you can’t catch me I’m the Gingerbread Man!” We displayed our characters and speech bubbles on a fairy tale scene:
In Maths we have been looking at time. We focused on an analogue clock and in particular o’clock and half past.
In our Understanding the World lessons we have learnt why people use ‘Wanted’ posters and the boys created a wanted poster for the Big Bad Wolf. In Computing we continued to look at the Bee-Bots and navigate these on a grid:
During Expressive Arts and Design we focused on making Mother’s Day arts and crafts. The boys took particular care and attention when making these.
At the beginning of the week we were very lucky to have year 3 visit reception. Each child from year 3 paired up with someone in reception and as a pair they thought of a new Mr Men character to make into a book. We look forward to seeing year 3 again next Monday when they share their books.
On Thursday we celebrated World Book Day. We made our own door book cover linked to the story of ‘The Jolly Postman’:
Our World Book Day theme was space and it was wonderful to see many miniature space men and aliens. We did a variety of space themed activities including singing space songs to the whole school, designing space ships and we had a story telling session with year 8.
Here are some other things we got up to:
