The animals went in two by two…

The boys have had a fun and productive week…

During Literacy and Understanding the World, we listened to the story ‘Noah’s Ark’. The boys loved watching the animals enter the ark and being safe from the flood. Their wonderful writing about Noah’s Ark will be displayed in class, alongside their sewing and paintings.

The boys were fascinated learning about rain and rainbows and how they are formed. They enjoyed painting their own rainbows. We also have a class ‘puddle’, which we are going to watch to see if it evaporates!

During Music they boys performed a teddy song to their teddies:

Throw two dice, start with the biggest number and subtract the smaller number using your fingers. To extend this beyond 6, use one of your laminated number cards, roll the die and subtract using your fingers. Please comment on this blog post to say how you got on. Have fun!

The new theme for show and tell is: Please bring in a picture of what you are curious about or an example of how you have shown your curiosity. The Starboys for next week are as follows:

Weather and Superheroes

This week we have been learning more about our new topics ‘Superheroes’ and ‘Weather’.

The boys have been having lots of fun in the Superheroes’ Headquarters role play area.

During Literacy, we listened to the story ‘Superworm’. Using their sentence writing, the boys wrote their own scenarios or problems for Superworm to save the day. All of their writing has been turned into a book to read in their bookcorner:

The boys also learnt about weather forecasts and facts about different types of weather.

During Expressive Arts and Design, the boys have been busy sewing raindrops for a weather class display. Mrs Aldridge and I have been very impressed with their determination and improving dexterity.

In Maths we have been writing addition number sentences learning where to place + and =.

For the Maths homework this week could you please complete the following:

Choose a number between 0-10, 0-20 or higher. Roll a die and add this to your first number using your fingers. If the number will total more than 10, place the largest number in your head and count on with your fingers.
