Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What Do You Hear?

During Understanding the World, we have continued to investigate our senses. This week we looked at hearing. We listened to the story ‘Polar bear, Polar Bear, What Do You Hear?” The boys then listened for sounds in our classroom and they wrote the initial letter sound for what they could hear and any remaining letter sounds. Furthermore, we looked at a model of an ear and we played a sound game.

During Phonics, the boys have learnt the sounds ‘n’, ‘c’ and ‘k’. We practised writing the letters in cursive and thought of words beginning with these sounds. Please continue to practise writing sounds learnt so far in cursive and writing your name.

In Maths this week, we have been exploring AB patterns. The boys have tried their best to recognise and continue AB patterns. They were challenged to create their own AB patterns using unifix cubes, compare bears and counters.

Have a go at completing these patterns:

Can you please practise writing numbers 0-5? You are welcome to bring in your number writing on paper so we can display it on our Independence wall. We look forward to seeing your lovely number work!

During Welly Time and Art, the boys have enjoyed collecting leaves and using paint to print their leaves on paper.

During PSED, we talked about how we can be a good friend and show acts of Kindness. The boys drew pictures for one another and shared the toys to demonstrate acts of Kindness.

What acts of Kindness can you demonstrate at home?

The Show and Tell boys are as follows:

Monday: Joshan

Tuesday: Kaan

Wednesday: Kerem

Thursday: Lysander

Friday: Niall

The weekly challenge next week is: ‘Put your hand up on the carpet.’

Have a fabulous weekend!

  1. Jett-Louis has enjoyed playing the matching game and carried on playing from level one to nearly completing level three all in one go but then he said got tired 🙂

Jett-Louis has been sharing with his older brother and helping tidy up their toys after they finished playing. When Jett’s brother is doing homework and is stuck on a question. Jett has told him that he can do it because he can.
