Orange Group work with a construction kit.
At the beginning of every school day, the boys in RO have settled into the routine of hanging up their coats, putting their book bags into the box and registering their presence by placing a name card in the basket. They are now ready to start their “Busy Finger” Activities! Every day we provide a range of four activities designed to strengthen fingers in readiness for writing and drawing. These may include threading, cutting, using large plastic tweezers or fixing a range of construction kits together. Rolling, kneading and pinching play dough or Plasticene is also tremendously helpful in developing manual dexterity.

It is also great fun and an effective way to encourage boys into the classroom and to get them communicating with each other!
As you can see from our photos, the boys become very absorbed in these activities and they certainly provide a calm start to the school day.
