A festive week

The boys have had a lovely week full of Christmas activities.

We had a great end to the week where we beamed into Mr Walker’s live assembly where he presented prizes and congratulated Pre Prep on a fantastic first term. The team’s tokens were counted by year 2 and the winning team was revealed… Well done to blue team for winning the token trophy this term! Afterwards, Mr Walker visited Reception to present the prizes. The winning token team will be having a treat on Monday.

During Literacy the boys watched ‘The Snowman’ by Raymond Briggs. They then wrote sentences about the Snowman’s journey using positional language to describe how he travelled in the sky.

Here are some photos from the week:

Showing good work to Mr Walker

During Maths the boys have been learning about 2D shapes. The Maths homework this week is as follows:

Go on a shape hunt around your home or out and about. Please see if you can find the following shapes in real life and comment on the blog post if you find them and what they were:

Circle

Square

Rectangle

Triangle

Pentagon

Hexagon

Octagon

When you have found the shapes, count the corners and edges.

Good luck shape hunting!

Tuesday: Zachary and Zakariya

Wednesday: Christmas themed day with no show and tell

Advent

This week the boys have been excited to open each bauble of December on the class Advent calendar and they have been learning ordinal numbers through doing this. The boy from the previous day reveals the face hiding behind the next bauble and offers that boy a chocolate coin!

During Literacy the boys listened to the ‘Christmas story’. They have been learning about Mary and Joseph’s journey to Bethlehem and the events of Baby Jesus being born. The boys cut out pictures from the story, ordered them and labelled them with words or captions.

During Maths the boys have continued to learn about ‘more’ and ‘less’ and adding numbers together.

For the Maths homework activity could you please use your laminated number cards to pick a number, write it down and then write 1 less. For a challenge to extend this further you can use laminated 100 square.

During Expressive Arts and Design the boys have continued to make different Christmas crafts, which they are thoroughly enjoying and looking forward to taking home soon!

The boys loved making dens and structures during Welly Time:

The theme for show and tell is to bring in your favourite winter or Christmas story. The Show and Tell boys for next week are as follows:

Monday: Ayden and Christos

Tuesday: Emilio and Emir

Wednesday: Erwan and Eshaan

Thursday: Finley and Harvey

Friday: Jack and Luke

Have a wonderful weekend!
