Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

What a fantastic first term at School the boys have had, it has whizzed by! Lots of friendships and fantastic progress have been made. We are very proud of the boys. They all deserve a well earned happy Christmas.

During Maths, the boys continued to learn about weight. They made predictions and tested their ideas.

To end our term, the boys enjoyed a Christmas themed day. The boys enjoyed their Christmas dinner and their Christmas party.

The theme for next half term is Weather and Superheroes.

For Show and Tell, please bring in a picture of your family at Christmas or during the Christmas holidays. The Show and tell boys are as follows:

Monday- Wednesday: Christmas holidays

Thursday: Andreas

Friday: Blake

The challenge over the Christmas holidays is to zip up your coat.

Thank you ever so much for your kind words and generous gifts. We truly appreciate it!

We will look forward to seeing you all after the Christmas break. Have a very Merry Christmas and a happy New Year!

A Festive Week

These are the boys who were behind the Christmas baubles this week…

The boys did a great job with their Christmas production. We are very proud of them!

During Literacy, the boys watched ‘The Snowman’ by Raymond Briggs. They then wrote sentences about the Snowman’s journey using positional language to describe how he travelled in the sky.

During Maths, the boys have been learning about weight. They enjoyed using the balancing scales to weigh various objects.

For the Maths homework this week, set up a post office with different objects/parcels (junk modelling boxes). With balancing scales, measure the weight of the objects. Encourage the boys to use vocabulary such as, heavy, light, heavier, lighter.

Please may I ask if you can practise writing all letter sounds in cursive. We would love to see the boys writing and put it on our Independence wall.

The Show and Tell boys next week are as follows:

Monday: Jack and Joshua

Tuesday: Leo M and Leo S

Wednesday: Phoenix and Rico

Thursday: Sebastian, Theron and Zavier

We are continuing with the weekly challenge, to line up smartly and quietly with your hands by your side.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Miss Yiacoulas and Mrs Aldridge

Advent and Hanukkah

This week the boys have been excited to open each bauble of December on the class Advent calendar and they have been learning ordinal numbers through doing this. The boy from the previous day reveals the face hiding behind the next bauble and offers that boy a chocolate coin!

The boys really enjoyed learning about Hanukkah from our parents. They enjoyed playing games and eating sweet treats.

During Literacy the boys listened to the ‘Christmas story’. They have been learning about Mary and Joseph’s journey to Bethlehem and the events of Baby Jesus being born. The boys sequenced pictures from the story, and retold the story in their own words.

For the Maths homework activity could you please use your laminated number cards to pick a number, write it down and then write 1 less. For a challenge to extend this further you can use laminated 100 square.

May I please also ask for the boys to practise writing their names in cursive independently.

RY Class is beginning to look a lot like Christmas. The boys enjoyed decorating our class Christmas tree.

The theme for show and tell is to bring in your favourite winter or Christmas story. The Show and Tell boys for next week are as follows:

Monday: Edmund

Tuesday: Frederick

Wednesday: Gabe

Thursday: Haikhun

Friday: Hugo

The weekly challenge is: Line up smartly and quietly with your hands by your side.

Have a wonderful weekend!
