The boys had a wonderful time at Cuffley camp. They were excited and ready to go on their adventure!
When we reached Cuffley camp, we met Katie our camp leader and we walked to the forest school. We had some play time to explore the different activities around. There was a swing, mud kitchen, huge tent, secret garden, and a wooden playhouse, to name a few!

After play time we learnt about what was needed to make a campfire and the safety measures involved. The boys learnt the three main elements to make a fire which are fuel, oxygen, and heat. The boys absolutely loved seeing Katie making a campfire using different materials.

Reception enjoyed going on a Minibeast hunt, they had to look for ants, bumble bees, beetles, woodlice, and worms. The boys also went on a Scavenger hunt to look for sticks, feathers, stones, grass, leaves and minibeasts (just to name a few!). We used what we found on our Scavenger hunt to make our own Bug Hotel!
We walked around the forest looking at the different trees, we found a Hornbeam tree which is around 300 to 500 years old. We gave this tree hug to say thank you for all the wonderful things it does for our world. We also found a Silver Birch and learnt that peeling bark off (which is called ‘ringing’) harms the tree. We came across some stinging nettles and tasted the nettle seeds which are a good source of iron!
We then used paint to camouflage ourselves and played fun forest games that involve hiding and not being seen by a predator. The boys loved playing these games and hid behind many trees!
The boys had a fantastic day and learnt so much about nature and why it is important.
